Posted - 01/08/2004 : 04:51:00 AM HI,
I believe I've already mentioned this via email to OriginLab, but when I install Origin 7.5 and select custom folder the default sub folder is \origin75\userid. If however I select \origin75 as the custom folder (standard set up for all users) then a folder origin75\userid is still created.
Cheers,
Pete

Posted - 01/23/2004 : 2:40:47 PM Hi Peter- Our QA will run through more tests on this, as some of us here seem to be getting conflicting results...we will get back to you when we learn more.
Thanks.

Posted - 01/23/2004 : 11:51:55 AM It is true that the %user% folder gets created if you choose a custom folder, but it is not actually used if you choose a different folder - say the Origin folder.
You can see what the user path is in the Script Window with:
%Y=<Enter>
To re-test this, you could execute this in the Script Window:
delete -path<Enter>
which will prompt for verification that the user path should be deleted. After shutting down Origin, delete the user folder under the Origin folder (back it up if needed). When you restart Origin, you will again be prompted for a user folder. Note that before you choose anything, we have determined a path based on your Origin installation and your user login and created that folder. You still can choose the Application Data folder, the created folder or any folder, but we won't delete the user folder in Origin if you choose not to use it.

Posted - 01/23/2004 : 11:13:03 AM Hi laurie,
A difference here - as per previous, I nearly always get the default custom folder created even when I select the origin (another) directory as the user folder.
Cheers,
pete

Posted - 01/22/2004 : 7:14:41 PM Hi Peter- I'm sorry, I seem to be missing something; maybe it is just late...
The default custom path is "origin folder\userid", but if you click Browse you can change this, the very first time that you run Origin. It then won't ever create a "UserID" folder, as far as I can tell.
Thanks, Laurie

Posted - 01/22/2004 : 12:47:34 PM Hi Laurie,
This occurred with either Origin Std / Origin Pro client or standalone. Each time installing for all users (I think for single user as well but can't be sure).
Problem is reproduced by running del -path in script window and reopening. The default custom folder is eg origin folder\userid which appears to be created first whether I want this or not. Presumably this folder could just be not created?
Note we use Windows 2000 as our standard operating system.
I think that uninstalling Origin and deleting registry keys (hkey_local_machine\originlab and) hkey_local_machine\originlab corporation might resolve - NOT sure here, but I have noticed just one instance where this didn't happen.
Cheers,
Pete

Posted - 01/22/2004 : 10:59:48 AM Hi Peter, I could not reproduce this, using either the client version or a single stand alone copy. In both cases, if I specifed my user files folder as either:
c:\program files\originlab\origin75client or c:\program files\originlab\originpro75
this was used as the user files folder. It did not try to use nor create the following folder:
c:\program files\originlab\origin75client\laurie or c:\program files\originlab\originpro75\laurie
I did my tests using SR1...maybe you can provide more details. Thank you.
