Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 9.2.272
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional SP1

I have a set of NMR signals that I would like to plot in the same style as the rest of my figures. So I exported the data from MestreNova to CSV and plotted it in Origin. Now, when I load the same data in Excel it shows beautiful smooth lines, like in MestreNova. However, with Origin the lines become rough and bumpy, like a stalactite. I tried all line connect options (straight, bezier, B-spline, etc.), but that did not improve the smoothness of the lines.

I hardly dare to ask this, but how can I smooth the lines similarly to Excel en MestreNova without using an actual smoothing step on the data?

Best regards,

Adriaan

Hi all, I have been having the same issue and a Google search lead me to this thread.

I notice this question is now over 2 years old, so I wondered if any new features had been added to Origin since this time, to address this issue.

If anyone knows whether this issue can be solved in the latest version of Origin please would you let me know?

Thank you!

So, unfortunately, for my 1H-NMR datasets, the smooth graph shape achieved by MestreNova and Excel could not be reproduced by Origin.

Thank you for your suggestions, I hope indeed that the developers will improve the smoothing algorithms for a better on-screen experience as well as smooth exported graphs.

Best regards,

Adriaan

Dear Chris,

I sent the files to the address you mentioned, I am not using Remote Desktop. Thank you for taking a look!

Best regards,

Adriaan

Hi,

Can you send us a minimal example that still illustrates the issue so that we can see for ourselves? Just one XY dataset and graph in an Origin OPJ so to minimize the file size? You can send it to tech@originlab.com.

Also, by chance, are you using Remote Desktop to run Origin remotely?

Thanks,
Chris Drozdowski

Dear CP,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I did try all of them. Anti-aliasing is turned on. Just for clarity, this is not about the on-screen experience in-program, but about the exported graphs (both EPS and 600 dpi TIFF).

Best regards,

Adriaan

Did you try Akima spline, or the Modified Bezier?

Also, make sure Anti-aliasing is turned on, that also makes a big difference for on screen showing of lines.

CP
