Hello to all of you!
I'm searching for a fast way to add more than the standard 8 shades of grey to a grayscale map wihtout having to add it manually in the graph properties.
It's been simple and intuitive in Origin 5, just double clicking on the graph would get you to a requester where you could enter the number of shades, but I can't find a requester like that in version 7.
Does anyone know an answer?

I guessed it would be something, where you just had to know where to click...
it's kind of antiintuitive though, isn't it?

Hi Tobias,
If you are refering to the grayscale or color contour plot, nothing has changed - you can change the number of levels in the Plot Details dialog as Mike described.
On the other hand, if you are refering to Image Plots, which is a new plot type introduced since version 7, this plot (which is a bitmap plot) uses only 256 colors and this number (currently) cannot be changed. You can only change the color assignment for these 256 levels.

Hi Tobias,
To control the number of levels in a gray scale contour map:
1. Double click on the graph. This opens the Plot Details dialog box to the Color Map/Contours tab.
2. Click on the Level heading to open the Set Levels dialog box.
3. Select the Number of Levels radio button and enter the desired number in the adjacent text box.
Since version 5, a number of plot controls were moved to the multi-tabbed Plot Details dialog box. In your case, you might have to make an extra mouse click, but you'll find that a greater number of plot details are controllable using the newer dialog box structure.
