Original Question:

User wanted to know about Origin file format to create Origin files. User programs in Java and is currently writing data to ASCII files and then importing them into Origin.

P.S. The original question got erased and this is my best recollection of what it was - my apologies.

Hi,

I am not familiar with Java programming. But if you can connect to another application from your Java program using Automation (COM) server programming, then you could connect to Origin as a server, push your data directly into an Origin worksheet or matrix, and then have Origin save the project for later use.

The Automation Server feature was introduced in Origin and OriginPro, in version 7.5. If you do not have ver 7.5, you can try this with the demo. There are examples of Excel, VB, VC, MATLAB, and LabVIEW clients accessing Origin as server, in the \Samples\Automation Server subfolder.
