Very strange: I'm using Origin 7.5 and I have a problem with the numbers on my x axis labels, which are not displayed correctly.
If I choose the scientific display setting in the tick label dialog box, I just get x10^3 in every label and if I choose the decimal display, the labels just become blank?! My X axis data are in the range 1540 to 1572.5.
I tried copying the data into Origin 6.0, which I have moderate user experience with from the past, and there everything looks just as it should. Does somebody, please, have an explanation?

Hi Rasmus,
It was a bug in SR1 that only shows up on some computers... I think if you are running English Origin SR1 on a computer that has Windows set to German (and possibly other?) locale. So this is why you might not see the problem on a different computer.
In SR1, the problem is fixed by changing the value of the @sc Origin system variable from 0 (default) to 1.
Patching to SR2 (and later SRs) fixes the problem too... because in SR2 the default value of this system variable is 1.

Hi Barb,
typing the script line fixed my problem (my version is SR1). Thank you very much! I'm not sure I still understand exactly why it didn't work in the first place. I tried opening my project on another workstation with Origin 7.5 SR1 and on that installation everything worked fine. But anyway, I'm very happy that I can now move on with my work!

I'm not sure, but I wonder if you might be seeing a bug that was fixed in 7.5 SR2 and later.
If you are running SR0 or SR1, could you try this:

Hi Rasmus:
Try as I might, I cannot reproduce this. I created an OPJ file in Origin 6.0 SR4, set the tick labels format to Scientific, saved it and reopened it in Origin 7.5. But everything looked okay.
Could you please send that Origin project file to tech@originlab.com and tell them, up front, that this concerns a problem reported on the OriginLab forum. Point to this thread in your e-mail.
