Hello everyone.
I've already read this tutorial about Double-X Graph http://blog.originlab.com/graphing/how-to-make-a-neat-double-x-graph , but I still can't get it to work.
here is the data I need to plot:
My X axis are mathematically related; the second X (X2) is 1/(X1^2). So, I followed the steps of tutorial for mathematically related axis: "Select Link Axes Scales tab in the dialog, and select “Custom” of X Axis Link, and give the link formulas for From value(=X1) and To value(=X2)".
So what I did was:
X1 = 1/(X1*X1)
X2 = 1/(X2*X2)
but it didn't work. I guess this only works for linear relations, I don't know. The result was:
So I tried the "Y-shared Double-X", but it didn't work either. The final result I'm looking for is this:
Realy donn't know why this is not working. Any help will be appreciated! |

I have a similar problem.(I work with version 9.1)
I implemented the formula in the axis dialog layer 2,and saved the whole graph as a Template.
The trouble is whenever I trace a new plot with that Template the 2 axis do not show the same scale range.I have to modify the both scale to be sure that they correspond
I tried to link the axis via the plot set-up, but I do not understand the exact syntaxe to be used with X1 and X2 (all the example give the same formula for the both lines e.g.(from http://blog.originlab.com/graphing/how-to-make-a-neat-double-x-graph)
X1 = 9/5*X1+32
X2 = 9/5*X2+32
why not put something like X2= f(X1) !!??
all the test have done failed and also erased the scale properties I had implemented in the first step.
Another question related to this kind of plot : since the top axis is not linear, the tick label are compressed on the left side. SO I would like not to show all of them. I tried to use the "first tick" line to start let's say at 2 instead of 0, but it does not appear to doanything on the plot. How does one use this line ?

Hi CLK,
In your case, I will suggest you use the "Custom Formula" X scale for the second X axis.
You can refer to this help page to learn more,
