Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 SR4
Operating System: W XP

Suppose I have a lot of datasets in my project, say 100.

I double-click on the layer icon in the upper-left corner of a graph window, which produces a new plot-setup dialog window in O75 (the formerly displayed layer dialog can reached while holding the ALT-key down when double-clicking). [After double-clicking one has to wait more than a second (on my 3.2GHz-P4) until the dialog actually appears, the old-style dialog gets displayed immediately!]

Say I remove one of the graphs currently included into the active layer, the result of pressing OK or APPLY will be a many-seconds-long delay (actually 8 [eight!!!] seconds on my 3.2GHz-P4) until Origin is ready processing the dialog.

What's going on here? This all DOES NOT happen if you use the old-style layer-dialog. Here Origin behaves like it always did: the dataset gets thrown out of the graph and the application is immediately ready to proceed.

Very strange, I tried to reproduce the error. Successfully!

Then I reduced the project in size on purpose to be able to send it to you. Eventually having only one graph and one worksheet left I was unable to get the strange delay-behaviour.

Reloading the original project showed that from now on my O7.5 handled also other projects (which definitely had these delays before) correctly without any delays... What's going on?

OK, perhaps I'll be able to send later a more reproducable specimen!

Hi Marko,
If possible, could you please send tech@originlab.com the OPJ file that you see the slow Plot Setup speed in?
If you can do this, then please also reference this forum thread in your email message, and include a summary of the steps you perform when you see the problem.

Topgunchen, it is actually SP1, but updated with all currently available hotfixes!

Easwar, looks like I'd have to contact tech support, if you think so.

Thanks so far!

Marko

Hi Marko,

Do you work with windows XP with SP2?

Hi Marko,

I tried creating a project with 100 datasets each of which had 100,000 points and when I make graphs (with some of that data, of course!), and use the Plot Setup dialog, I see no sluggishness. I did this on a 2.66 GHz 512MB RAM machine running Win XP Pro Ver 2002 SP1.

Perhaps you should contact tech support directly so they can figure out what exactly is casuing this problem on your machine.
