Hello! I am using origin 6.0.

I want to know if it is possible to use different kind of applications (*.*) for the DDE command. I have a file with no specific application and I want to connect it with origin, is that possible?

Thanks a lot

Maria

Hi Mike!

Thank you very much for your help, I will check if the other program can works as a DDE client but you have solved my question.

Hi Maria,

Origin can act as a DDE server so the program that creates the data files can force Origin to update if that program is a DDE client. DDE server documentation is available only in OriginPro but the basics (Application, Command and Topic) are used in the link I gave above. You can find out more about Origin/DDE by going to OriginLab's home page, clicking the Search link (bottom right) and entering "DDE". Most of the hits will be other Forum queries and replies but you might get some ideas from those.

Hi Mike,

What I need is:
*I have some data files created by other program. This data files are created daily with ddmm.yy format.
*I have a project in Origin, in which I can import and process this data files by labtalk.
*I want to know if is it possible to import the data file once and then do the connection to update this data file in real time?
*After that I will do some graphs, so I will updates also the graphs.
*I read the help about DDE command, and I know it is possible with Excel, but I want to know if is it possible to connect other different and simple applications?

Thank you very much.

Hi Maria,

If you want to associate data files that have specific extensions with Origin so you can import them from Windows Explorer then look here...

http://labtalk.nmrtools.com

If that's not what you're asking about please give us more details.
