Sir
I want to draw a common tangent passing through two curves. How can i draw such a tangent in Origin 8.5 and also how can i measure the slope of the tangent?

Hi Rishikanta,

Currently, we just have a Tangent app to get the tangent line for one curve.
But to run this tool, the minimum versions is Origin 9.0 SR1 (I think you need to upgrade your Origin to use this tool.)

Please refer to this page:
http://www.originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=227

If you do not ask for the tangent line very precise, you can try to add the tool on the graph and move to the position on the "tangent point" for two curves.

But if you hope the tangent line is very precis and you can fit your curves, then you can try to calculate the tangent line function by the fitting function of the curve (for example, 2 order Polynomial function.)

If you have fitted your curve but can not calculate the tangent line, you also can send your files to our Tech Support department <tech@originlab.com> with your Serial Number. Then we can try to help you calculate the tangent line function.

Thanks
Jacqueline
