Operating System: Windows XP
Hi, everyone:
I have faced a problem which i've never seen before.
When I make a new graph using (x,y,z) data in Origin,
numbers, texts and symbols on graph look very very very small.
Those are absolutely unusual sizes.
Is there anyone who knows what's the matter with it?
Please help me.

Thanks a lot, greg.
As you guessed, my default priter was not a real printer but a sort of reformatter, 'WMF2EPS Color ps L2'.
So I installed a new printer and set it as a new default printer.
Then Origin is working normally.

Make sure your current Windows Default printer is a 'real' printer and not some kind of reformatter (like a PDF or slide driver).
After the switch, right-click in the gray area of the graph window (off the white page area) and select 'Fit Page to Printer'.

I followed yours, but nothing is changed.
Since this version is too old, it probably collide with some settings or background jobs of programs such as spywear or anti-virus.
See. Old graphs are OK. But new ones have vvvvvery small-sized axes, labels, and data. Of course, both of old and new graph have the same setting in Format:Layer, Page, and so on. |

Hi turbul,
So your entire graph, including the layer frame itself, was smaller (you left out that important detail).
The way this works is this: With Scale with Layer Frame selected, plot elements should scale relative to the size of the graph's layer frame (normally the area that coincides with the area within the graph's axes). If this button was selected and you (or someone else) reduced the layer dimensions -- either by dragging a selection handle on the graph or by reducing the dimensions via the Layer Area settings on the Size/Speed tab (Layer level) of Plot Details -- the other plot elements would indeed get smaller (proportional to the size of the layer frame).
So, if I understand you correctly, what you really needed to do was to increase the size of the layer (in which case, with Scale with Layer Frame selected, the plot elements -- the data, the labels, etc. -- would have scaled proportionally).
If you are plotting a 2D graph, do this:- With your graph window active, select Format:Layer from the menu.
- Select the Size/Speed tab and set Layer Area dimensions to something like Left=17.9, Top=11.6, Width=68.2, and Height=71.8 with Units set to % of Page.
- Select the Display tab and re-select the Scale with Layer Frame button.
- Remake your graph and see whether that doesn't take care of your problems.
As I mentioned before, all of these settings are saved with the graph template; to make your new settings the default settings, you need to select File:Save Template As from the menu, then give the graph template a name (or overwrite the existing template).

Hi Mike
On the Scale Elements in Plot Details, 'Scale with Layer Frame' was selected originally and 'Fixed Factor' (which was not selected) was 1.
By changing Fixed Factor into 5, axes, labels, and data seem to be noraml look.
And also I need to change the dimensions (width, height) because they were also abnorally changed by something.
Emm.. It might be impossible to change every setting in every polots. :-(

Hi turbul:
The only thing that comes to mind is that perhaps the graph template's Scale Elements factor is set to something significantly less than 1. To verify this:- With the graph window active, select Format:Layer from the menu. This opens the Plot Details dialog box for the graph layer.
- Select the Display tab.
- Have a look at the Scale Elements group settings. By any chance, do you see that the Fixed Factor radio button is selected and a fractional number (significantly less than 1) is entered in the text box?
- If so, enter a factor of 1 and I think your problem will be solved (note that each graph layer can have a different setting).
- To save the new setting, resave the graph template.
