Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 SR5
Operating System: XP Professional

Hello,

since I installed Origin 7.5 I've the problem that some commands are very slow executed:
Starting Origin, it takes about half a minute until Origin has finished loading.
If I want to open an new empty worksheet it lasts over 20 seconds!!! The same with plotting some data, the loading of a theme for editing or starting the template library.
Curiously, other operations like the import of datas in a worksheet are executed in a absolutely normal speed.
Do you have any ideas what could be the reason for that strange behaviour?

The problem is solved:
The standard network printer was not available. And because the checkbox "set to printer dimension when creating graphs from this template" was checked the program always searched for the unavailable printer. Compliment to the support team for the efforts! The service was really great!!!

Hi ML,

I did your tests and sent the results to the support.

@Hajo: Thanks for your idea, but all my files are locally stored, so the network can be excluded.

Hi klink,

To help diagnose the problem, can you please, do the following simple tests:

Open Script window if not alrady opened (Alt 3), type in the following and press enter:

win -t data

A new worksheet should open.

Then do the same with

win -n data Junk

Another worksheet (with no columns and the name "Junk") should open.

How does the speed of execution of the two commands differ?

Also, please enter in the the Script window the following command:

system.=

and hit Enter. Then select and copy to clipboard all the stuff that the command has dumped into the script window and post it here.

Also, do you have problems opening projects (.OPJ files), either those that you have previously saved or those installed by Origin under the Samples folder?

Thanks.

ML

Hello,

are the data files located somewhere on a network drive?

I often get slow speed in analysis by importing files from a network drive. By storing all locally speed is much more constant and faster.

So far

No, the User Files folder is local to the computer.

Hi klink,

This is one that I should probably leave to the folks in Tech Support but, by any chance, is your User Files folder located on a network drive?
