Hi all,

I'm new to both this software and working with large data sets. I've been given a data set that consist of mass spectra. Origin worked great in finding peaks and subtracting background. But now I'm trying to see if there is any influence in the ratio between peaks when I change the bin size of my data set and the range I select for a peak.
I have the option to choose a bin size varying from 0.01 per step to 0.1. And the range I choose can be the center bin +/- a number of times that bin size. If I would go over all these option step by step by hand it will take a while.
So my main question is if there are build-in function in Origin that can do does type of analysis.

Hi,

If I do not misunderstand your mean, you do "Frequency Counts" and use the result to do the "Peak Analysis" to find the peaks and subtract background, right?
And you want to change the bin size from 0.01 to 0.1 in "Frequency Counts".
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Frequency-Counts
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/IntegratePeak-PA

If so, you can do a complete processing. And then when you want to change the bin size, duplicate the workbook and then click the green lock on the right-top of th column for the "Frequency Counts" result, and choose "Change Parameters" to reopen the "Frequency Counts" dialog again. And reset the bin size, click OK.
Then the result of "Frequency Counts" and "Peak Analysis" in the duplicate Workbook will be auto updated.

Please note: make sure in "Frequency Counts" and "Peak Analysis" dialog, the "Recalculate" option is set to "Auto".

Thanks
Jacqueline
