Hi,
I think you can use this method with version Origin 8:
Select the XYZ columns -> Select Worksheet -> Convert to Matrix -> Select XYZ Gridding. Select Ok.

With the new matrixbook created, select all data in the matrixbook and select Plot from the menu bar -> Select 2D Contour.

If you want to consider upgrading to Origin 2018, here is a simple tutorial for plotting a 2D surface plot with XYZ data in a worksheet with a minimum version 2015.
