I have a large datasheet in which the first 50 data increase greatly with time scale and after that the others smoothly grow.
The question is how to draw a curve with the first 50 data and after that the data points can be skipped by a certain amount.

Hi Younger,
I guess skip points must be the same before and after a break? In that case I would plot the data as two datasets. Copy the first part to a new column, delete (clear) those values in the original column and plot both columns. Use the same symbol for both but skip points only in the later data.
...Alternatively, you could create two identical layers and show the first part of the data in one layer and the second part (w/skipped points) in the second layer. I think the first solution is easier.

Hi, Mike,
It is not what I mean. In fact I have for example 4000 data to creat a 2D graph (x--time, y--displacement). The variety of the beginning of y are large and in the graph the symbols have large distance in y-axis; and the rest reaches a smooth level but with seriously overlapped symbols. What I want to do is to display the data evenly. But if I use this method: Plot details-> Drop lines-> Data points display control->[50 or 100 something like this]skip points. The resulted curve shows evenly except the beginning part with a sudden increasing step in y-axis beacause there is only 1 datum in case of 50 skip points checked.
How to display the curve that can show the beginning part completely and the rest part with certain data points skipped?

Hi Younger,
Assuming that you are creating a 2D graph, I think what you want is an axis break. To find out more, look in the Origin Help file (Help:Origin) under these topics:
