I wish to plot a histogram in origin. I already got values of bin intervals and frequency using excel. I am trying to make a column plot using these values.
The problems I am facing are how to change orientation of bin intervals to 90 degrees on the X axis. Excel lets me do this easily as Format Axis-Alignment. But I dont know how to achieve this in origin.
The other problem is it doesnt show value of bin interval "More" given by excel. Thus there are numbers for each bin interval and the last interval says what is the frequency for bin interval greater than all bin intervals shown (given as "more"). Could you suggest the best way of achieving this in origin?

MS Excel's Help file says:quote:
A number is counted in a particular bin if it is equal to or less than the bin number down to the last bin. All values below the first bin value are counted together, as are the values above the last bin value.
So, this quantity "more" is apparently just the frequency count in the last bin. This seems a clunky way to report data, if you ask me.
Note that you needn't do your histograms in Excel. It's easier in Origin and the binning and charting procedure is done in a single operation (and I'll point out that Origin's charts are more "scientific" looking, as well). If your Excel datasets are already arranged in columns, this is particularly easy; just run Origin, open your Excel workbook as either as an Excel workbook or an Origin worksheet, select your column of raw data and do a Plot: Statistical Graphs: Histogram.
To customize the histogram click on the histogram and choose Format: Plot from the menu. This opens the Plot Details dialog box. To access the bin data, right-click on the plot and choose Go to Bin Worksheet from the shortcut menu.

Hi shrivastava,
regarding your first problem, you can simple double-click on the bin inerval axis label to bring up the "Axis" dialog. In the "Customer Tick Labels" tab, make sure the "Show Major Labels" is checked, and enter "90" into the Rotation (degree) field and click Apply.
