Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro2016 (64-Bit) and b9.3.226
Operating System: Windows 7

I have 3 column data in the format:

1 1 0.0
1 2 4.6
.
.
1 199 2.1
1 200 3.0
.
.
.
200 1 2.1
200 2 8.3
.
.
200 199 2.7
200 200 0.0

Unfortunately I am not able to perform Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA) on the data set and getting the error:

"Invalid data element memory access. This is due to wrong internal data type declared for vector or matrix. For example,"

And on further attempt, the error:

"hcluster:X-function failed to execute!"

Strangely, this issue doesn't happen with k-Means Clustering Analysis (KMCA).

However, I am trying to follow the tutorial link given below:

https://www.originlab.com/doc/Tutorials/Cluster-Analysis

The HCA works upon converting the worksheet dataset to matrix (by using XYZ gridding) and then back to worksheet. But it becomes a real mess to do KMCA after that.

Especially using the HCA "centers" as input for KMCA and "Grouping" data for visualization is hardly feasible.

Kindly help me.

Cheers
Pratik

It may be because your input data is not numeric double type from the error message.

If you change type, it still fails. You can send your project file to us, and we can try it.

To send us a file, you can click Send File to Tech support button in the top right of the forum page.
