I have a set of XY data that is time stamped. I would like to color the xy plot based on on the timestamp of the data so that the color gradually changes over the color spectrum. I think I figured out how to use a separate column to color but how should I cconfigure that column so I get a line that gradually changes throuhg the color spectrum.

Thanks

Hi ijourneaux:

In an XY plot, you can only apply a color map to discrete plot entities (i.e. symbols, bars/columns). Lines can only be drawn with a single color.

If you have many data points and sufficient point-to-point continuity, you may well find that a scatter plot looks much like a line. If your dataset it small, you might create an interpolated dataset with a larger number of points (in order to create the impression of a continuous line).
