Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7 SR4, v7.0552
Operating System: Windows XP

I have a matrix with data ranging a time span from 8 Dec 2002 to 15 Dec 2052.
I would like to have ticks and corresponding labels every ten years at the beginning of the year, e.g. on 1 Jan 2010, 1 Jan 2020 etc. However, Origin draws the first tick at the beginning of the time series, i.e. on 8 Dec 2002. I thought it should be possible to change this by writing the numerical value of 1 Jan 2010 in the "First Tick" field, but this does not have any effect at all.
Does anyone have a suggestion to solve this problem?

Thanks, Martin

If I understand you correctly, you should be able to manually alter the tick range using the axis controls (double click on axis) window. You should be able to expand the range by whole units or fractions, which will then include the tick value you seek. Another possibility is to reduce the font size of the tick lable.

If your tick label type is Date you should be able to enter the date string using the Windows Short Date format. On US systems this looks like
12/31/2005
This might be slightly different in Switzerland, possibly
31/12/2005
