Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 SR5
Operating System: Win 2000

Hi,

Trying to launch an instance of Origin with Excel 2000 and I keep getting the error :

Runtime error: '429'
ActiveX compnent can't create object.

This occurs both with my code and the sample code provided (ie it's not down to my code).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Easwar,

Thanks for the reply.

I still don't know / understand why the problem occurred but the link was helpful in that it prompted me to change the path in the registry for origin.application to our client C:\origin 7.5\Origin75.exe rather than the current OriginPro path C:\Program Files\Origin75\Origin75.exe.

The GetObject("","Origin.Appliaction") now works.

Previously, GetObject("","Origin.ApplicationSI") did work (with an existing instance of Origin.

My PC does differ from others in that I have had various versions & builds installed at different times.

Practically this is not a problem in that all our users have 7.5 Client but if you have any further insight in light of the above please let me know.

Thanks,

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete,

We found the following Microsoft Support web page:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828550

Does the problem pertain to just one machine or other machines as well? There could be a problem with the Origin installation on this machine. Could you run Origin manually on this machine and it works fine?
