Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5SR5
Operating System: Win2000

Hi,

I'd like to explore / very interested in the extent to which Origin can be integrated with other applications, or to be more precise, appear to be integrated as I appreciate Origin doesn't act as an add-in as such.

We're happy using COM / automation etc.

For just doing analysis or creating graphs it is fine to keep origin hidden ie the user with a .NET interface does have to know that origin is doing the work - so we just export data and graphs.

The issue arises for applications where we want to interact with the graphs though eg buttons attached to the graph - we have to be in a visible instance of Origin. Also, where we would simply redraw graphs in origin, for the .NET (Excel too) application we would ave to reimport the new graph making the solution appear bit more cumbersome.

To what extent can this link / interface be made slicker?
Can I have an origin session 'locked' into a .NET form?
One idea might be to have a dialog wizard visible with with (the rest) of origin hidden - can this be done?
And could the dialog be locked to a .NET form?

Thanks,

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Currently one needs to switch between the two applications, and hide/show one or the other etc as you describe. We will consider ways to acheive smoother integration in future versions.

Thanks,

Easwar
