Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 2015 b9.2.272
Operating System: Windows 7

My aim is to get a vector image of my figures created in Origin when exported to PDF from Word. This works fine, except for the figures that have half-filled symbols. My half-filled circles are then converted to a filled circle with a white-filled triangle superimposed on it. (see https://we.tl/5y43xnQWJc available until 9-8-2018)

I could reproduce this error by creating a new origin project with a made-up dataset, copying the scatter plot with half-filled symbols to Word, and exporting the Word file to PDF using Save as Adobe PDF.

Does anybody know how to counteract this behaviour and simply display half-filled symbols? Maybe it is something similar to these issues? https://www.originlab.com/doc/Quick-Help/export-pdf-prob

Indeed, exporting as PDF directly from Origin is fine, but not the aimed workflow.

The suggested option,

Save As -> PDF -> Options -> unchecking "Bitmap text where fonts may not be embedded",

gives satisfactory results. The symbols are still not perfect, but much better than the superimposed triangle and circle and the vector format is maintained.

I will attempt to contact Adobe and Microsoft for the perfect result, although am not as sure that they can give practical help other than something like "3rd party software Origin is incompatible with our PDF generator".

If I have an answer from them, I will post it here.

@Castiel, thank you very much for your help!

Indeed, but this is the print version of PDF, so everything is sort-of flattened (zoom in on the tick labels). The vector format that is usually saved in the PDF when using acrobat is thus partially lost. Which is the whole point of me putting the origin copy in there and not a flattened tiff or png at high resolution. Also, if you zoom in on the symbol (which is vectorized), it is still not a perfect circle.

So unfortunately that is not a solution...

Font related issue...have to clear the checkbox "Bitmap text where fonts may not be embedded". Indeed, this is not a solution. https://gofile.io/?c=EIlVNP

This is problem of generating PDF from Word/using Acrobat PDFMaker. I'm sure you can get practical help from Microsoft/Adobe.

Exporting as PDF from Origin seems fine.

Thank you for looking into this issue. My Word is part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013.

The Origin and Word file can be downloaded from this link https://we.tl/ueeD94o02o (also available until 9-8-2018).

I hope you can reproduce the issue with these files, since that would mean I can also reach a situation without problems.

Save as PDF in Word not using Acrobat PDFMaker for Word. No such problem. See https://gofile.io/?c=y3w6ex

Which version of Word do you use? The pdf file from your link was created by Acrobat PDFMaker 18 for Word.

No such problem as I tried without Acrobat PDFMaker 18 for Word.

Maybe you should also upload the corresponding Origin project file.
