Hi!

I want to fit my experimental data with a formula containing the Legendre polynomial of the first and second kind. But I can not find them in the fitting toolbox. So, can anybody help me please?

Thx

Hi Shausfel:

You requested Legendre functions of the SECOND kind. These are not given in the NAG function nag_legendre_p which only produces functions of the FIRST kind.

However, the functional form for Legendre functions of the SECOND kind are listed on the WEB and can be easily programmed in Origin.

Hope this helps.

The Origin 7.5 demo does include the NAG libraries.
To try this out, you can download and install the Origin 7.5 demo.
Then run Help:Check for Updates to get the Help files.
To learn how to access the nag_legendre_p function from Origin C, select Help:Programming. Then activate the Help Index tab and type in: nag_legendre_p
The documentation includes example Origin C code.

Hi shausfel,

I'm afraid there is no Legendre function in Origin 6.0. However, 7.0 and higher have the nag_legendre_p approximation. You might try the 7.5 Demo but I'm not sure it includes the NAG libraries...
