I am trying to import some experimental data from a multi-channel analyzer that has 7 comment lines, and then only the y value for each channel, but these are in 8 columns. Using the ascii import functions the data ends up in the eight columns rather than just one. Is there an import filter where you can specify the number of comment lines, and then specify that the rest of the data is read as sequential y values? Ideally a column of x values should also be created as I need to use this to calibrate the data.
(This is similar to the Jcamp type files, but mine do not contain the start or end values, or data point intervals etc)
Many thanks

The product is not shipped with such a filter, but a filter could certainly be created for such a file. The Import Wizard last page has an option for advanced settings and in that page custom LabTalk script can be placed that does post processing of the imported data. This technique could then be used to acheive what you need.
Can you provide some more information?
1> How is the data to be read in? Does it go sequentially row wise? That is to say, data from 1st row should end up in col1, then second row should be appended at the end of col1 and so forth?
2> In order to create an X column, one needs to know what x start, step values are to be used. Are they specified in one of the header lines?
If you could, please send a sample data file to tech support, or copy-paste here. If you e-mail tech support, please refer to this post.
Thanks,
