I would like to be able to define some first and second derivative function for the lorentz line shape in origin 5.0. when i define the equation and then go to use it to fit a line i cant select the dataset. this would there is an error with the file for the line shape. basically i want to define this equation

dev1lor = y0 + (2 * A / Pi) * (w / (4 * (x - (xc + (fm / 2))) ^ 2 + w ^ 2)) - (2 * A / Pi) * (w / (4 * (x - (xc - (fm / 2))) ^ 2 + w ^ 2))

where y0 is the offset a is area w is width xc is the center and fm is an offset to make the first derivative. i am looking forward to some suggestions.
