Operating System: Win 10 pro
I get frequently data files with a series of experiments on a system. The file contains one column with experiment ID, and usually there are 5-50 points to one ID. E.g., "10% addition" will yield a number of datapoints where the effects on the system is monitored. Then there are a couple of columns with measurement values.
I would like to create an automated routine to handle this data, so that it would read all responses corresponding to "10% addition", create a tab for that response, and arrange the data so that "10% addition" is a single column containing all measurements wtih that ID. Next column would be the next ID (e.g., "11% addition"). Other responses would be in their corresponding tabs with similar columns .
Then, if possible, to run a statistic analysis on each tab and get the mean values and the SE of mean, which can be plotted.
This would save me a lot of tedious and repetitive cut-paste -excercise. Any ideas or existing solutions to manage this? :) |

Hi,
1. To group data based on the ID column, you can go to menu Worksheet: Unstack Column. Set Data to be Unstacked to your measurement column. Set Group Column(s) to your ID column. Click OK.The result should be as below:
2. To calculate group mean and SE, you can select menu Statistics: Descriptive Statistics: Statistics on Columns.. In the dialog set Data Range to the measurement data column, set Group to ID column. Switch to Quantities tab, make sure to check Mean and SE of Mean. Click OK, you should get the group statistics.
Note that you can save the workbook as analysis template that you can load multiple data files into the template to automate the analysis process. For more info on batch processing. please refer to this tutorial:
