Posted - 08/28/2019 : 1:04:35 PM Hello. I often add data labels by going to Plot Properties - Enable Labels at Specified Indices. This works great. But I am wondering why I can't add symbols to those specified indices at the same time. I usually add a red vertical line as a symbol. I am aware of the leader lines, but I want the vertical lines to actually touch the data point to lessen confusion, which I can't seem to do with the leader lines, they are always too far offset.
So, my question(s) are:
Is there a way to add symbols along with the data labels at specified indices? Is there a way to get the leader lines to actually touch the data points?
TIA. |

Posted - 08/29/2019 : 3:43:10 PM The way such markers and labels are done in Origin itself typically involves creating a second dataset consisting of the "peak" X & Y values.
A plot of this dataset is then added to the graph a scatter plot.
You can then customize the symbol shape and color to suit your needs and even enable labels for this plot. This way you have a lot more control.
I hope this helps.

Posted - 08/29/2019 : 2:55:13 PM Hmm, that's a neat trick, thanks. Except I can't then also have the X axis point as the data label.
I'm looking for the following, where the carat is the peak maximum.
X axis data point | ^

If you simply want to add a vertical line attaching data points. you can use the settings below.
