I also posted this question in scripting forum. Mods, please feel free to delete whichever copy of the post if it is not on topic.

Origin Version 8.1
Service Release: 0
Operating System: Windows 10 Home

We have an older install of Origin which works OK except for one thing. The NLFit dialog does not come up so we cannot do any non-linear fits (including exponential and sigmoidal fits). We can however perform linear and polynomial fits.
I tried starting the NLFit dialog from the script window using nlbegin (e.g. nlbegin func:=gauss) but I get no error message. The dialog simply does not show up and there is no fit in the plot.
I tried doing nlbegin func:=gauss from the command line window and that produced a fit (!!!) but the dialog did not show up. So the fitting itself works but the dialog stays hidden so we cannot configure the parameters.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I am sorry that Origin 8.0 is a very old version, I am not sure if Origin 8.0 can work normally on Win 10:

Our latest version is Origin 2020. If you are interested, you can download a free demo here:
