Why are font sizes in my plots pasted into PowerPoint different even though they are the same size in Origin?

I'm using the standard method of right-click on plot -> "copy page" -> paste into PowerPoint. Then I adjust the copied plot to be the same size as the one that was already in the slide. And the fonts are clearly different size. Why? How?

Sure, the plots were made in different projects. But that shouldn't matter, right? How can this be fixed?

Hi fr0zensphere,

We think the graph must be created in an older Origin version <8.5.1, which had a font bug at that moment.

Specific to the "plot comparison.pptx" you sent us, it is the left graph which has problem.

You can open that project file, with graph window active, select Graph menu - Convert to Standard Font Size, re-save the project and then try paste to PPT again.

You will have to do it for every old project files to fix the problem.

Hi,

Can you send the project with two graphs to <tech@originlab.com> that we can check further? Theoretically if two graphs are set to same size and have same font size, they should also agree when they are copy/paste to PPT slide.

That didn't do anything. Checking the status bar showed no discrepancies. The "size(actual)" numbers were the same.

I did, however, switch the option from "Scale With Layer Frame" to "Fixed Factor". I think I did resize the Layer Area slightly at one point because I noticed that the other plots that I was trying to match with (which were made earlier) had a slightly different Layer Area. However, those other plots also had the option set to "Scale with Layer Frame" instead of "Fixed Factor". Anyway, after I switched it to "Fixed Factor" in the new plot, I tried copying/pasting the plot again into PowerPoint, and again the issue was the same: the fonts are still different compared to my previous plot.

Do I have to remake the plot from the beginning with the "Fixed Factor" selected to get the font sizes to come out the same?

Hi,

In Origin when resizing graph layer, font size may scale accordingly. In your case the actual font size maybe different to the set size. you can check it in status bar.

To fix the font size when resizing layer, please set Scale Elements to Fixed Factor: 1. See if this solves your issue.
