OriginPro 2021 (64-bit) Beta 3 9.8.0.112
Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1

Greetings!

My worksheet has 3 data columns X, Y, and Class (empty).
I want to do a simple task: select (freehand or rectangle) point in a scatter plot graph window and assign a defined value (numeric, text) to Class column for the selected points.

How do we normally do this in Origin?
Currently, I try solving this with the Data Highlighter tool, but cannot figure out a way to assign a certain value for the selected points.

Thank you.

Dear Snow,

The function works great and exactly and I asked:

OriginPro 2021b (64-bit) Beta1 9.8.5.53
Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1

Thank you for implementing this quickly.

Can I set keyboard shortcuts to useful commands of Cluster gadget, for example to Create Categories?
This would allow much more focus on the plot rather than to click on the gadget's dialog.

Thank you.
What about freehand selection (similar to other graph tools)?

Suggestion 3.

You can use Cluster gadget to classify points though to only supports circle and rectangle shape.

When u use the Create Category button and specify category, new column is created for such category info.

We have suggestion for freehand shape for Cluster gadget ORG-20829 but not targeted for the coming 2021.

Thanks, Snow

Thank you for the suggestion!
I found Cluster gadget to be very useful.
My suggestions:
1) Add a nice freehand selection capability in addition to Circle and Rectangle.
2) Assign a keyboard shortcut for Create Categories button, so the right hand will be selecting the points with a mouse and the left hand will fire the command.
