Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 2020b
Operating System: Win 10

I'm new to using Origin and have been trying to figure out the best way to deal with a line graph with groups of points along a curve.

The plot shows displacement on the x-axis against load on the y-axis. When I was gathering the data, I paused at even displacement increments where many points were taken. However, at a constant displacement, the load would "settle" and I would get a range of points with constant displacement but a decreasing load.

I wanted to know if there was a simple way of averaging these groups of points on a scatter or line plot. Because there are hundreds of points with the same x value, I could not get the smoothing option to work with this data.

If you would like to average the data points with exactly same x values, you can use menu Worksheet->Remove/Combine Duplicated Rows. If you want to average the data points with close x values, you can also try menu Analysis->Data Manipulation->Reduce Duplicated X Data.

Hi,

I think you can use the Smoothing tool to remove the noise data:

Hope it helps.

For reference, here is an example of one of my plots.

I would like to get something smooth along the lines of this red line. The small blue circles are these point groups that I am trying to describe. Ideally, I would like to find a good option to achieve this using a function of Origin Pro. However, if anyone has a suggestion that would help me manually select these clusters so that I can reduce them into a single averaged point, that would also be much appreciated.
