Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2020 64-bit SR1 9.7.0.188 (Academic)
Operating System: Windows 10

I am using the "Fitting Function Builder" to define a new function.

When attempting to do so Origin either fails to save entirely(if all settings are default) or will save the .FDF to desktop(with any adjustments).
In the case of it saving to desktop; Within "Analysis/Fitting/Non-Linear Curve Fit.../open dialog" Attempting to 'Add' the saved .FDF fails.
I have tried adjusting all the parameters in the function builder dialog box and nothing seems to resolve the issue.
This issue does not occur when using OriginPro 2016.

Has anyone had a similar problem and/or is there a solution?
Cheers.

Hi Snow,

My User Files folder is located within Documents/OriginLab/...
Yes, User files is read only, unselecting read only does not seem to fix the issue.
I've also tried copying a built-in function to the User Files fitfunc folder and restarted origin. This also does not change anything.
Attempting to reinstall program, will update if success.
[Update 09/28/2020]
Performing a clean install seems to have fixed the issue.

Usually fitting function is saved to User Files\fitfunc\ folder when you define it in Fitting Function Builder. Not sure why your fdf are saved to Desktop.

Could you check where your User Files folder is? You can choose Window: Script Window.
Then run
%Y= //press ENTER key
to find the location

Also is your User files folder read only?

As a workaround, culd you check if in Windows Explorer, you can copy a built-in function from exe\fitfunc\ folder and then manually paste to user files folder\fitfunc\ subfolder. And rename it.

Then choose Tools: Fitting Function Builder to edit the renamed function?

Thanks, Snow
