Ideally I want to plot a 3D surface but colour it based on another data sheet? Is either of the two things possible? thanks |

Posted - 11/16/2020 : 09:31:12 AM Hello,
Yes. It's possible.
If you double click the surface or project to open Plot Details dialog. On left panel, u can see two entries of data.
The projection is just a flatted plot. On Surface tab, u can see Flat is checked.
U can remove this projection. Instead, plot another data as surface plot in same graph. Then check the Flat checkbox. It will make it flat. U can also check Shift in Z by percentage to 0 so the projection shows at bottom instead of the default top.
3D surface with color mapped to another data is also possible. Again, double click the plot to open Plot Details dialog. On Fill tab, Colormap is set to Self. If u uncheck Self, u can pick another dataset as colormap.
BTW, we support plot 3d surface from worksheet with XYZ columns or from matrix sheet. If u plotted from XYZ columns, when u want to map color to another dataset, it must be in same worksheet. Another column. If you plot from Matrix, then then other dataset should be in matrix form. Another matrix object in same matrix sheet tab. https://www.originlab.com/doc/Tutorials/3D-Colormap-Other-Mat
Thanks, Snow
