I'm currently optimizing my default axis labels as displayed in FAQ 154 (https://www.originlab.com/doc/Quick-Help/Customize-AxisTitle) via modifing the origin.ini file. Right now, the x axis label is 'raman shift [cm-1]'. I want the '-1' to be shown in superscript, but using stuff like '' doesn't work. Is there a way to change the .ini file so that the default labelling include superscript units? |

thanks for your answer, it works perfectly. We're using OriginLab on an external computer only assigned to raman spectroscopy. Thats why there's just Raman data with these specific axis labels. But I'll keeep your advice with using templates in mind :)

Posted - 02/11/2021 : 11:57:44 AM Hi,
If you really want to hard code the title to a literal string using the INI method, then you can use this syntax: XTitle=raman shift [cm\+(-1)] which will show the -1 as superscript.
But then any graph you create will have such hard coded title. A better way could be to create a workbook and a graph for your specific need, the title in the graph can then follow the book's settings, then embed/float the graph into the book. Then you could use such book as template and bring in new data?
Here is an image showing how you can simply set up the book and the graph will show the title from the book's metadata (long name, units...)
We can work on improving that FAQ page to point out other options such as using a book template.
