Greetings!
Columns A(X), B(Y), and C(Z) produce the 3D correct graph. However, Columns A(Y), B(X), and C(Z) return the following error:
Is this a bug or a feature?

As you have tried, it will not work.
I saw the issue has been jiraed in P5 of ORG-20733 but not been addressed yet since the workaround is selecting Z to plot.

OK, this works in the case if a user selects a single column (Y or Z).
What does Origin do if I select three (YXZ) columns and call the plot command?

Origin tries to find the closest X and Y on the left to use.
For 2D, if only choosing Y to plot and there is X on the left. It will use the closest X found on the left. If no X on the left, then it will use closest X found on the right.
For 3D or contour, when choosing Z to plot, it will find closest X and Y on the left. If no X or Y on the left, it willl find the closest on the right.

How does Origin interpret if I select three columns in a row?
It seems that in this case it assumes XYZ designation. Right?

Regarding to your original question, with YXZ type of worksheet, u can plot by selecting column C only. It will use correct X and Y columns in front of it.

You can swap column designations or simply not select any columns and select the graph. The Plot Setup dialog will open allowing you to choose X,Y,&Z columns manually from a list.

What is the best strategy in this case: swap A with B and designate them as X and Y correspondingly? Or something else?
What is the logic behind refusing the A(Y), B(X), and C(Z) scheme?
