Greetings!

What is the proper way of copying/moving matrix objects between matrix sheets?
I understand the XY dimensions should be consisted.

Thank you.

Do you mind sending your opju. I saw some error message dumped in messages log once but i didn't pay attention to it and now can't see the issue.
The only issue i saw is it doesn't update thumbnail view and didn't show the copied object in target window. I added this as P1 in ORG-23958

Could you clarify how it messed up the target window?

Thanks, Snow

I notice that this happens if the source MO has different dimensions than the target MS.
Please make impossible copy if source and target dimensions do not match.

Yes, Andrey,

What is your setting in Output Matrix?
Suppose Target matrix is MSheet1 of MBook2], if i set
[MBook2]MSheet1!<new>
It will copy to new object in MSheet1 of MBook2.
But the new object doesn't show in thumbnail. I will report that.

Copy a MO to another MS with several MOs destroys data in the target MO:

OriginPro 2022 (64-bit) Beta2 9.9.0.105
Windows 10 21H1 x64

Please check.
Can you reproduce the issue?

With the copied object, click the green lock and set it to None.

Then if u open Set Values dialog, u can edit the formula.

Also as Max said, when u were doing copy matrix, u can set it to None.

Thanks, Snow

Can you show this method on a screenshot, please?

The lock belongs to the "Copy to" tool, you can click the lock icon and select menu "Recalculate Mode: None" to remove the lock.
Or you can select the Recalculate combo option as None on "Copy to" dialog at the beginning.

It(set as None) also means that it will lose the connection (auto-update) with the original matrix.

See more about "Recalculate" on following page:

Hi Andrey,

Aside from the m2w XF, we also improved the matrix object copy functionality in Beta2, based on your post:
https://my.originlab.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46988

We added "Copy to" context menu on the Image Thumbnail, you may take a try if having time.

It works fine in 2022 Beta 2.
However, if I tick to copy formula in Copy to dialog, the formula seems to locked/blocked in the destination MO:

How do I unlock the Set Values dialog?

Dear James,

That is what I currently do.
However, it would be great to have GUI and LT command for this.

Dear James,

This copies the values, but not set formulas.
Let me put it this way: How do I duplicate MO (values + formulae) to a different worksheet?

It seems that GUI cannot help.
Is there an LT snippet for this?

You can handle Matrix Objects the same way as you handle the columns in worksheet. e.g. copy/paste the values from one object to anther object, then delete the original matrix object.

James

Dear James,

This is OK for the MOs with statiс values.
Is there an easy way to copy/move MOs with Set Formulas?
