I get different results using the same cutoff frequency although both should be low pass filtering and do not understand why. Can anybody help? Thank you very much in advance, Annika [/quote]

Hello,
I have a question concerning Origin's options for FFT Filtering: What's the difference between the FFT Filter Option in the smooth dialog box (
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Smooth-Dialog
or
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Smoothing
) and the FFT Filter (
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/FFT-Filter
)? I get different results using the same cutoff frequency although both should be low pass filtering and do not understand why. Can anybody help?
Thank you very much in advance,
Annika

Please check this help page on the algorithm of smoothing with FFT filter method. It has some extra steps to handle the baseline:
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Smooth-Algorithm#The_FFT_Filter_method
