But there is no helpfile to find. I would be interested in the description of the Function and what the outputs (esp. tau) here means.... Thanks..... |

Posted - 12/09/2021 : 10:02:35 PM Hi JimThieser,
We followed a reference with C code which a user sent to us.
quote: Reference: "The Limits of Signal Averaging in Atmospheric Trace-Gas Monitoring by Tunable Diode-Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS)" P. Werle, R. Mucke, F. Slemr, Applied Physics B 57, 131-139 (1993)
Two outputs: tau and Allan variance. For each tau value, it will divide input data into k=T/tau (T is the total time) subgroups.
e.g. tau=T/5, input data is divided into 5 subgroups.
In each subgroup, calculate its mean. Then calculate the difference of means between adjacent subgroups. Allan variance at this tau is half of the mean square of these difference values.
Note that the maximum tau is T/2, which corresponds to two subgroups.
We will update the app's web page to provide the reference and algorithm.
Thanks. Sam
