Is there any general guideline for choosing between psdvoigt1,psdvoigt2,and voigt for fitting peaks? I'm not sure what the physical difference is between 1 and 2 when the documentation lists them as separate widths while looking very similar in origin.

It all depends on whether you have the restriction of wG = wL in the fitting.
