Dear all,

when using the Smooth Dialog Box, I can choose FFT filter, which according to the Algorithms - Smooth page (https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Smooth-Algorithm#The_FFT_Filter_method) leads to the application of a parabolic low-pass filter:

"The function used to clip out the high-frequency components is a parabola with a maximum of 1 at zero frequency, and falling off to zero at the cutoff frequency."

My understanding is that I need a start and a stop frequency, when applying a parabolic FFT-filter (like in the FFT Filters Dialog, https://www.originlab.com/doc/en/Origin-Help/FFT-Filter-Dialog).

Therefore, I do not understand, what exactly Origin uses as a start and stop frequency, when I use FFT Filter in the Smooth Dialog Box as I am only able to specify a cuttoff frequency there.

Your help is highly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance,
Annika

Hi Annika,

The value of Cutoff you enter is the stop frequency while 0 is the pass frequency.
