Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2022 SR1 9.9.0.225 (Academic)
Operating System: Win10

I'm currently making a bunch of bar charts (two to three bars with the tick label stating what they are) and I wonder how I could tell Origin to take the x-Achses tick labels (aka the name of the bar) from the same line from the first column (already formatted as label) as it's quite cumbersome to do those changes manually.

I see now exactly what the problem is. First of all, I'm not using column charts, as written in the headline I'm using bar charts, the one from the statistical section. And selecting "Text from dataset" as tick label doesn't actually do what I need it to do. It will not use the cell that's in the column I select and in the same row as my data point, but it will simply start with the first row of that column. That's why it won't show anything when selecting the column I need because it has no entries in the first couple of rows.

That's exactly what I'm doing. The problem is, when selecting the column I need the tick labels simply disappear. Not to when I select other columns.

That's not what I'm looking for as the labels aren't the same for every graph.

I've found a setting allowing to set text from a column as tick label, but it doesn't seem to always work. While I'm able to set it to the corresponding value of another column, it doesn't show anything when I'm selecting the column actually needed.

After you customize the axis labels, you can save the graph as a template. (right click on the graph window title bar, and select Save Template As..) . You can use the default name which will override the system template, or give a different name then you can plot from menu Plot->My Templates.
