Hi guys I try to plot error bands and the y axis should be logarithmic coordinates. However, when the average-SD < 0, the error bands display unnormal because we can not define log(x) while x<0.

One possible method to define the y axis as piecewise function, like,

x>0, f(x)=log (x)
x=0, f(x)=0
x<0, f(x)=-log(-x)

I wonder if it is possible to be done in the software. Or if you can provide any idea it will be quite good.
