Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2024b
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

I would like to automate the task of importing a 4 column ascii file into non-adjacent columns of an analysis template. Example:

Column 1 of ascii file -> import into Column A of template
Column 2 of ascii file -> import into Column C of template
Column 3 of ascii file -> import into column E of template
Column 4 of ascii fille -> import into column H of template

I have played around with filters and scripts with no luck.

Is it possible to automate this task in any way?

Thank you!

Hello,

Here is an example of what James has mentioned:
https://my.originlab.com/ftp/forum_and_kbase/Images/Reusable%20Import%20to%20Analysis%20Template.opju

Open the attached project file and navigate to the "Import Template" sheet of Book1. Click the Data Connector icon then "Data Source..." to select your ASCII data with four columns. Then view the Analysis Template. These green lock icons can be clicked then "Change Parameters..." to change where the columns are imported.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

You don't have to import the data file directly into this sheet. Instead, you can insert a worksheet in front of this sheet, then import the file into the inserted worksheet. For each column, right-click on it and select Copy Columns to..., then copy it to the appropriate column in the second sheet. Thanks.

James
