Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2021b 9.8.5.212
Operating System: Windows 10

Hello, I'm having a persistent issue when trying to export graphs as vector files or when copying the graph as a picture and pasting into adobe illustrator. The graph I'm trying to export has the axis scales set to include only a fraction of the total data being plotted, but when exported, the entire data range is shown extending beyond the bounds of the plot as shown in the attached image. This issue does not occur when exporting the graph as a raster image. How can I prevent this from happening? Thank you.

Hi confusedgrapher,

Besides the ideas Snow proposed, you may also the SVG format, which is introduced in recent Origin versions,
which we expect provides a better rendering in illustrator.

Hello,

This was reported before and our developer said
"We generate a correct EMF, as confirmed by opening it in Paint. This is AI's problem - they do not handle the EMF correctly. Maybe we could try to play with this by creating a different EMF to satisfy AI (I have no idea how), but the change could break other things, so better not touch it. The user ought to report the problem to the company which produced AI."

We found
1. Exported as other vector formats like pdf (opened by Adobe reader), emf (opened by Windows paint) do not have this problem.
2. AI CS1 does not have this problem, no matter copy paste or open emf in AI.

Maybe you can use these workarounds?

Thanks, Snow
