I am trying to plot a bar graph in which for each X axis value I have two groups. The data has a value, a label (a number - not the actual value), and a Y-error bar. When I plot all of the data once I get the correct graph. However, the data is dependent (as a result the color for each subgroup is based on a color map). If I change the data to independent, then the two groups use a single column error bar and label. Is it possible to somehow have a two independent groups for each X value, and have its own Y-error bar and number (taken from specific columns). Thanks! Itay |

Sorry, we don't support auto upgrade yet.

Posted - 08/05/2025 : 06:55:15 AM I've just updated to the latest 2025 version. It is strange that the software does not automatically update to new versions... :-) Itay |

Posted - 08/01/2025 : 05:07:42 AM Thanks Snow! I will contact our institute's computer center and see if we are eligible for the upgrade. Regardless, the problem is solved - if I create the graph using the Y data and the Y-error bar, then change the group to independent and only them I add the label.. Itay |

Posted - 07/31/2025 : 09:55:24 AM Hi Itay,
Thank you for detailed steps. Yes, i can reproduce it in 2024. And in versions 2024b and later, there is no issue. So for now you need to go to the 2nd Label node on the left of Plot Details. Then go to Label tab to fix the "Label Form" dropdown list.
Could you let me know in what case you need to set the edit mode as independent since there may be workaround?
Please also check if you are eligible for 2024b or newer versions?
Thanks, Snow |

Posted - 07/31/2025 : 07:00:35 AM That's strange.. could it be that I have a bug in my copy? I created a new project using the same data you had. Then I plot the bar graph. When I changed the group from dependent to independent and click apply - I got the problem. See attached images:

I tried to set the label columns as Label (old way), then highlight all data (y, error bar and label) to plot together. Then set Group Edit mode as independent. The layout of graph isn't affected.
Could you share your opju for me to check if there is bug?
Thanks, Snow

Your answer solved my problem. If I create the column plot with just the Y data and error bar (without adding the label). I then set group to independent, and then added the label - it worked perfectly!
For some reason if you originally create the graph with Y data, error bar and label - it messes once your change the group to independent!

Posted - 07/28/2025 : 5:28:07 PM You can fully control which error bar and label is for each plot. E.g.Highlight B to E and plot as column plot. Then go to Plot Details. Select B and D respecively on left and specify where the label is from.

Or could you share an opju with your data arrangement in worksheet.
