Posted - 08/27/2025 : 09:41:14 AM Hi all,
I want to add asterisk symbol "*" in the top right for the values that are higher than +-0.75 (see Bild 1 for reference), i.e. 0.76 should be 0.76* ans so on. I cannot put an asterisk manually as Origin doesnt support that. I have spent the past few hours looking for a solution but cant.
Origin file is attached as a reference. Thanks
Best regards, Najeeb

Posted - 09/30/2025 : 03:35:57 AM Hi Cecilia,
In my case there is no separate p-value matrix. I only had the correlation coefficients (r-values) calculated from Python. I noticed that values ±0.75 are particularly relevant for my analysis, so I wanted to mark them with an asterisk. At the moment, the only way I could do this was through the duplicate-plot/label workaround. However, I would imagine things becoming very difficult if the relation is more complex.
From the user end, a feature that would make this much easier is the ability to place symbols (like “*”, “†”, “#”, etc.) next to numbers without breaking the numeric value. A predefined list of symbols that users can select and append as annotations to specific numeric values. This is however, an implementation challenge for the developers and I'm glad I'm on the suggestion-giving side.
Bests, Najeeb
P.S: I appreciate you and your team continuously working to improve origin!!

Posted - 09/30/2025 : 02:10:00 AM Hi Najeeb, We want to improve Origin to create such graph easier. I suppose the asterisk symbol "*" is significant mark. The heatmap is created from a correlation matrix. How do you determine significant mark based on the correlation coefficient r-values? Do you have another P-value matrix to determine significant mark?
Thanks Cecilia |

Posted - 08/27/2025 : 11:11:07 AM Hi Chao,
Thank you for the reply. That fixes it. I also put transparency at 99% and then the text appears and that is exactly what I wanted . I appreciate your help.

Posted - 08/27/2025 : 10:24:39 AM Hello,
You can duplicate the plot and create separate labels.
1. Open the Object Manager and Ctrl + C the plot. Ctrl + V to create a duplicate. 2. Open Plot Details and select the first plot and go to the Label tab 3. Change 'Label Display' to 'By Value' and select 'between' and enter -0.75 and 0.75 4. Select the second plot and go to the Colormap tab. Turn transparency to 100% 5. Then go to the Label tab. Change to 'By Value' again and select 'not between' and enter -0.75 and 0.75. In the Numeric Display format, enter: .2"*"
