Hi, I need to project my stacked bars perpendicularly onto the map (I've already done so in the attached image), but it's not allowed to publish with the Google watermark. Can I use another map inside the Origin?

Posted - 02/25/2026 : 09:14:06 AM Hello,
I am working with a 3D stacked bar plot.
My data structure is:
X = Longitude
Y = Latitude
Z = Two stacked values (LMW and HMW)
I would like to place a custom 2D map as an image not shapefile (exported from QGIS or Ocean Data View software (ODV)) as the XY plane background, so that the 3D stacked columns are positioned correctly over the map according to their geographic coordinates.
I am aware that Origin has a built-in Google Map option, which works well visually. However, it produces a watermark that is not acceptable for publication purposes.
I also tried the built-in "Maps Online" app, but it does not work properly on my system.
My questions are:
Is it possible to use a custom image (e.g., PNG/TIFF from QGIS) directly as the XY plane background in a 3D stacked bar graph?
If yes, what is the recommended method to align the image with the X and Y axes correctly?
If not, what is the best professional workflow to combine a publication-quality map with a 3D stacked column plot inside Origin?
Thank you very much for your guidance.

Posted - 02/18/2026 : 12:06:46 PM Hello,
There are several options to insert a map into a graph. Please see: https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/working-with-maps
If you are currently using the Google Map import app, you will need to consider one of these other options such as the Maps Online app: https://www.originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=240 You will have to look for a WMS server to source your map.
Best, Chao |
