the problem is to get the imaginary part of an analytical expression such as a+exp(ib)*Ln(E-E(x)+iY)

Hi,

Origin does not support analytical expressions/symbolic math, so you cannot use a numeric function to extract complex part out of an analytical expression like that.

The function you were trying to use, which you mentioned in another post, works with complex numeric variables.
