Hello,

Is there is a source/reference which explains how Correlation Gridding for converting random XYZ data to matrix works? I mean mathematical/statistical procedures employed.

I am trying to plot a set of random XZY data as a 3D sufrace and would like to get an idea about potential artefacts.

Thanks

Hi:

You can read the Introduction to Matrixes>Worksheet to Matrix Conversion>Converting Random XYZ Data section of Origin Help file. However, the detail algorithm is beyond the scope of this document and somewhat complicated, you can read the following referance for more detials:

1. Stephen Henley, (1981), Nonparametric Geostatistics, Applied Science Publishers LTD.
2. Michael L. Stein, (1999), Interpolation of Spatial Data: Some Theory for Kriging. Springer-Verlag, New York.
3. Noel A. C. Cressie, (1991), Statistics for Spatial Data, Jon Wiley & Sons.
