Hi,
I know I'm definitely no expert in origin, but I keep trying. More than once I have encountered problems while importing data from other files (.xls, .txt)
Origin does not correctly recognize separators (in Germany, commas are used to separate integers from fractions of whole numbers instead of points). I've even substituted all commas for points in a .txt file consisting of two colums of data with a header, unfortunately with no effect. If I use the Multiple ASCII-import all data up to < 1.0 were transferred correctly. For all numbers equal or larger than 1.0 separators were ignored or viewed as a thousand-separator.
Can you help me find a solution for this problem?

Hallo;
as Deanna pointed out, it's better to use Import Wizard, even for multiple files (just select multiple and they are imported at once). On German OS, number format should be ok. Origin's default setting is "Windows Setting" thus it uses your country setting from Control Panel.

Hi.
Please use the Options dialog to specify the numeric separator before the importing. You can do it like follows:
1. From the Origin menu, choose Tools: Options.
2. In the Options dialog box, click the Numeric Format tab. Then use the Separators drop-down list to choose 1.000,0, which should be the numeric separator formatting used in German.
3. Click ok to close the dialog. When Origin asks you whether you want to save the changes as the startup setting. Please click yes.
After this, please use the Import Wizard to import the files. The Import Wizard usually handles headers and separators better than the general Import ASCII method. You may find some information about the Import Wizard in your help file.
