Origin Version: 7.0
Operating System: XP

I have a problem getting Origin started. After freshly installing it on XP system it was running one or two times properly. I tried to open it today an got the following application error:

'The instruction at "0x00000117" referenced memory at "0x00000117". The memory could not be "read".'
I can then choose between termination and debug, which will both lead to a closing of the program.

I hope someone can help me with this, otherwise I run in deep trouble with finishing my Ph.D. thesis in time.

Best wishes,
Satchmo

p.s. running the repair routine did not help.

I had the same problem. The way that I found to work around it was to download and install all of the updates available for Origin after a fresh installation and prior to actually trying to open Origin (it runs just fine on the installation launch, but not thereafter).

Hi Satchmo,

Has anyone heard of anything that one of the many patches for Windows XP recently published can cause problems in starting Origin 7.0
I'm up-to-date on XP critical patches and Origin 7.0 works fine for me. I have the latest version (SR4) so try updating your Origin.

Did you install or modify any custom toolbars while your Origin was running? If so take a look at this topic...

It discusses O75 but the same problem exists in O70.

Of course did I reboot the computer, more than once.

Thanks for the help
